1. Use Purple to Support Your Work
Purple works best as a starting point, not a final answer. It can help you move faster, but you are still responsible for checking facts, reviewing tone, and deciding whether something meets your intended purpose.
2. Think Before You Paste or Upload
Before you enter a prompt or upload a file, pause and ask: do I need to include all this information? If not, remove unnecessary details or generalize the content before proceeding. In most cases, a generalized example will achieve the same results.
Avoid entering sensitive details such as passwords, financial information, medical records, or personal identifiers
3. Do Not Rely on Outputs Alone
Purple can be a useful assistant, but don’t assume its answers are always correct. Check important information, use your own judgment, and make sure any output is appropriate, and accessible before relying on it.

4. Do Not Outsource Important Decisions
Purple can support your work, but it should not replace professional judgment. When the stakes are high, especially in academic, medical, financial, legal, or mental health situations, consult an expert.
5. Follow UW and UW Medicine Guidance
Not all information is appropriate to use in Purple. Using it responsibly means being thoughtful about what you enter, handling protected information appropriately, and reviewing outputs carefully before you share or rely on them.
