Overview: Canva is an online platform that provides UW-branded resources, tools, and templates for creating on-brand designs and communications. 

Purpose and Benefit: Canva is an online platform that helps UW faculty, staff, and students easily create professional, on-brand designs. It offers UW-branded resources, tools, and templates for various communication and outreach needs. Using Canva ensures consistency in UW’s visual identity and saves time with ready-to-use templates. 

How to Get Canva for Design

UW faculty, staff, and current students are eligible for UW Canva.

Request to enter a Canva Group

License Details

License Details: 

  • Named User Licenses are assigned to individual users.
  • A license cannot be assigned to a shared UW NetID.
  • A usage audit will take place twice a year. Your license will be revoked if you have not logged in during that period.

Restrictions: 

  • Use Canva only for university-related purposes (academic, research, etc.). If you are unsure whether your survey questions contain or request sensitive data, contact the UW Privacy Office for guidance.
  • Personal use is prohibited.

 Compliance and Best Practices: 

  • Data Security: Ensure all designs comply with UW data security policies. Do not include sensitive or personal data in public designs. 
  • Brand Guidelines: Follow UW’s brand guidelines to maintain consistency in visual identity.
