UW Information Technology Strategy

Since the fall of 2022, UW-IT has laid the groundwork for a thriving future through strategic planning, collaboration with peer institutions and corporate partners, and meaningful conversations with our community and customers.

At the heart of this effort are our Four Anchors: Trusted Solutions, A Great Place to Work, You Get Me Relationships, and Global Impact. These anchors guide and unify our work. Each anchor plays a critical role on its own, but it is their alignment and collective impact that make UW-IT a true competitive advantage for UW—further strengthening our ability to support the University’s core missions of education, research, and service.

Trusted Solutions

“UW-IT needs to help us develop a common language, look across the university, and create the collaboration that will be our competitive advantage in the market.”
-Office of the President

At UW-IT, we know that trust is earned, not given. That’s why we are committed to creating and delivering accessible, secure, and outcome driven solutions. We provide our customers, partners, and community with consistent and high-quality experiences, empowering them to do their best work. Every solution we deliver is vetted, evaluated, and prioritized to meet the needs of the University.

A Great Place to Work

At UW-IT, our mission goes beyond technology. We are creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute within our organization and across the University.

Our colleagues and managers go above and beyond to promote a culture of improvement, innovation, and inclusion. Most importantly, we prioritize flexibility, understanding, and support to help employees balance their professional and personal lives.

“We need a process for sharing big ideas and new opportunities with UW-IT that goes beyond the normal help desk process.”
-Office of the President

You Get Me Relationships

You get me captures the deep understanding we build with our customers, partners, and community. We actively listen and make deliberate efforts to understand your unique needs to best leverage technology for you.

By fostering transparency and open communication, we create opportunities to gather feedback that drives our approach. This insight helps us design solutions that genuinely meet their needs and deliver real impact.

Global Impact

As IT professionals at one of the world’s top research institutions, we are at the forefront of technological innovation. We maximize our global impact by leveraging our resources to promote collaboration, thought leadership, and shared expertise. Through strategic partnership and collaboration, we expand UW’s reach to drive innovation, share information, and expand access to technology across the state, region, and world.

“I truly believe the work we are doing will enhance not only our entire institution but higher education globally. We are building leaders, pushing innovation, and enabling world-class research, teaching, and learning through information and technology services.”
-Andreas Bohman || Vice President for UW Information Technology and CIO
